Experience

Over the course of my early 20s, I’ve had a handful of unique opportunities that have deeply impacted me and brought me to where I am today. Here is a few of them!

ACADEMIC

Entrepreneurship & the New Economy

During my time studying abroad in the Fall of 2023, I took a course called Entrepreneurship and the New Economy, in which we would create and research start-up companies and their approaches to being entrepreneurs in the business world. This course also introduced us American students to the European economy and opened my eyes to the faults of European, specifically Italian, politics, trends and its economical standing.

One of the projects I did in this class was to research a problematic megatrends, showcase companies that partake in it, and offer solutions for those companies. My group decided to research fast fashion businesses as well as businesses who are sustainable and ethically responsible. By participating in this project, I learned how to work with a team to navigate a large real-life issues and find solutions for it. This project deepened my knowledge of fast fashion and also ignited my passion for working with sustainable and ethical brands. If I could do this project again I would want to interview fast fashion and sustainable companies to get more insight on why they do what they do. Overall, this was an incredible learning experience to further immerse myself in the business world and taught me how to put on an economic lens wherever I go.

PROFESSIONAL

Shift Lead at Hume Lake Christian Camps

During the summer of 2023, I got the opportunity to work at a youth Christian camp in the Sequoia National Forest called Hume Lake. Campers come every week and get the opportunity to participate in recreation, chapels, and spend their free time exploring nature in a safe and beautiful place— all while learning about Jesus. I worked as a shift lead in the camp’s Snack Shop overseeing a team of 20+ individual workers serving milkshakes, fries, and burgers to the public and campers.

Working on this team taught me how to lead as Scripture calls Christians to lead - quietly yet boldly. I learned a lot about myself, developed my leadership style and collaborated with other shift leads and managers to create an efficient and welcoming work environment. I learned how to order and organize product, how to close out the register, and the ins and outs of working in food service. This job also helped me navigate dealing with different personalities and work conflict in which I became interested in working in Human Resources.

PROFESSIONAL

Meadow Ranch Program - Lifeguard

Summer 2024 I returned to Hume Lake Christian Camps as a part of the Meadow Ranch program team. Meadow Ranch is the middle school camp at Hume that is geared towards sharing the gospel with a younger age group and having fun while doing it. I find it important to include this experience because it grew and molded me into the person I am today. By working as a lifeguard and directly with the middle school age group, I found myself learning to take on more projects and responsibilities.

During my time this summer our team of 24 people produced live-skit productions for the campers to watch and get a better understanding of the message that each preacher was conveying each week. This included set building, memorizing lines, acting, and learning extensive dance routines and song lyrics. Alongside growing in my ability to public speak and act in front of an audience, I facilitated games for campers to play during recreation and spent my afternoons lifeguarding the pool, pond and working the skate window. Working on this team advanced my critical thinking skills because it often required acting fast and discerning the best solutions to aid campers when needed.

Furthermore, this job is a unique position where a team of 24 people who all have patience and personalities for middle school students came together and work closely alongside each other for 3 months. This was one of the most life changing experiences I’ve ever had, and now I have a handful of random talents to bring forward to whatever career I pursue.
